Grace and I have been great friends since our first day of college.  One thing we quickly bonded over was photography. We had both had some really cool travel experiences and therefore great opportunities to get some interesting shots and develop a love for capturing those moments.  She and Alex got engaged at the end of last semester and I was super excited when she asked if I could take their engagement portraits.  I had helped out with a few weddings and done some group and individual portraits before, but never had I had the opportunity to capture the young love of a couple right after their engagement.  It makes for a great subject! Our conditions were perfect too! You never know in mid January how Ohio is going to look.  It could either be super muddy and dreary or like a beautiful winter wonderland. Fortunately for us, it was the latter. We had a perfect amount of snow dust us the week before which made for beautifully clean backdrops.  We also had a nice cloudy day to gently diffuse all of our light over our subjects to give a nice evenly lit exposure. The location was where Alex had proposed to Grace a few weeks earlier and was at the barn where Grace kept her beloved horse and goes riding often.  We had a really fun day, although by the end everyones fingers and toes were freezing.  They did a very good job of hiding just how cold they were the whole time.  They even humoured me by lying in the snow at the end to get the laying down shot seen at the top of this post. Graces bright red top contrasted perfectly with the neutral backdrops of snow and woods.  Really fun shoot to do and process!AG1 all-07
